As a charity, formed in 2006, Wave Active continues to ensure all surplus revenues generated from activities are reinvested back into the community in the form of: facility developments, refurbishments, employment opportunities, new programmes of activity and to support those with health conditions to make health improvements.”
Since 2006, we have made fantastic progress against our vision (to be at the heart of the improvement of health and wellbeing in our community), have established great relationships with our local authority partners (Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council) delivering on the objectives within our previous strategic plan and continue to demonstrate positive financial growth and surplus revenues on the back of the Pandemic.
This success has been achieved by maintaining the ‘group’ purpose of “Inspiring Active Lifestyles” but splitting this purpose across two distinct parts of the organisation:
-
Operating high-quality, sustainable, commercial facilities, activities and programmes for the general public.
-
Designing and delivering behavioural change and activity programmes and pathways that helps those with health conditions, injury, illness and inactivity.
Our “Health Improvement Services” continue to be developed for those with diagnosed health conditions; physical, mental or emotional, for people to gain, regain or maintain an individual’s health and well-being.
Whilst the team has remained relatively small, much learning has been gained of commissioned and funded programmes, to include Otago and Postural Stability Instruction (PSI) for Falls Prevention, ESCAPE Pain linked to MSK Partnership services and delivery for cardiac, stroke and pulmonary rehab and although these commissioned services are currently not available to us to tender for, our staff retain the relevant qualifications and knowledge and many continue to be provided on an individual basis or group setting for the health benefit of the local community .
