Introducing Wave Active
We write this to re-introduce ourselves to all our members and friends under our New Name of Wave Active.
Wave Active (formerly known as Wave Leisure Trust) continues with it’s purpose of “Inspiring Active Lifestyles” and vision, “To be at the heart of the improvement of health and wellbeing in the Community”.. On 3rd October 2022 Trustees approved the proposal to change the name of Wave Leisure Trust Ltd to Wave Active Ltd.
Why Change?
On 1st April 2023 Wave will have been in existence for 17 years and whilst no records of the 2005/06 brand review or decision-making process are held on file, it is understood that the company name “Wave” was chosen to align with the aspiration to “wave goodbye to inactivity’. This association was further enhanced when it was agreed to use the silhouette of a hand as the Company Logo.
In those 17 years, there is no doubt that Wave has evolved, not only in terms of the number of sites operated and geographical area covered but also in terms of the nature of activities being delivered, none more significant than the services delivered for health improvement and supporting those with diagnosed health conditions, which were key in terms of highlighting the role ‘leisure services’ could play within community health and the range of opportunities in partnership with primary health care partners.
This was a significant change and a positive move highlighting the role Wave facilities and employees can play in supporting the health of the local community. Arguably, on the back of the intense phase of the Covid Pandemic, these ‘community health’ services are even more relevant and essential.
As such, whilst recognising the desire to protect the well-established sense of identity within the Lewes District it has been agreed to rename Wave Leisure Trust Ltd, to “Wave Active”.
When?
The name change has already taken place with Companies House, but our intention is to introduce the new name gradually, so, over a period of time you will start to see the new name appear.
Do you need to do anything?
You don’t need to do anything. Our contact details will be changing but our telephone numbers remain the same, you can still use our current emails and our website address stays the same for now, so you can continue to get in touch and find out about services and activities available.
You will start to see some changes to the names on our social media accounts.
To help spread the word about Wave Active, we are offering a member’s promotion to introduce your friends to Wave Active.
